Welcome to registration for the LOCALLY HELD field leader course  Nov 16/17 . This course runs from 9-5pm both days. Please fill out this form. Course facilitator, Lucinda Watkins, will reach out for payment once we hit minimum numbers.

This course will teach you the foundation of outdoor leadership for day-long hiking trips in 3 seasons. Our systematic approach enables you to learn industry-accepted practices and implement them in your context.

Course Info: The course length is 16 hours.
To be hiking leaders, participants should have some hiking experience and be able to participate in a low risk natural environment hike on a designated trail while carrying what they will need for the day outside. Participants must have the physical ability to hike on a footpath with rocks and roots, etc. Participants are required to read a manual beforehand. Participants who successfully meet the course outcomes will earn Outdoor Council of Canada Field Leader – Hiking certification along with the necessary skills to be a confident hiking leader in 3 seasons. Most of the instruction will be in the classroom with some experiential lessons on the trail. There is some travel, usually by car, from the classroom space to local outdoor areas and participants are responsible for their own transportation to the course and between the classroom and the outdoor area. Participants must attend the full 2 day -day course in order to receive certification.

Registration includes a course manual and a one-year membership with the Outdoor Council of Canada (OCC members have access to many benefits). All participants must sign a waiver. Further course information will be provided upon registration. Participants are responsible for their own accommodation, meals and transportation.

YOU WILL BE SENT A LINK TO A GOOGLE FORM AFTER REGISTERING HERE AS A MEMBER. Please fill that out. It goes directly to the course facilitator who will then send you an email with further info and request for payment.
