MULTI-DAY EVENTS

The AAMC recognizes that pets are an important part of many people's lives and can often be fun to travel with. To address every type of pet, trip, travel and accommodation circumstance, is not possible. Therefore, having a pet on a multi-day club event is discouraged. Please leave your pet with a local pet sitter, family member or trusted friend while away on a multi-day club event.

In developing this policy, the Executive has considered the following:

  1. The importance of safety for club members (dogs can cause stress for wildlife as they may be seen as a threat).
  2. The importance of ensuring that all participants at a club event have an enjoyable experience. For some people pets are a part of this, for others they are not.

As a club we have decided it is best not to permit pets on multi-day club events to retain our commitment to environmental preservation and a positive club trip experience for all members.

SINGLE DAY EVENTS (WITHIN EDMONTON)

For single day club events happening within the city of Edmonton (i.e. outdoor social events), pets are allowed to attend with their owner as long as the following criteria are met:

  1. Keep your dog on leash (2 meters or less) at all times.
  2. Pick up and dispose of your dog's waste in a garbage bin.
  3. Ensure your dog does not attack, harass or chase a person, animal or vehicle.

Ensure that the location of the event permits pets as per the City of Edmonton’s regulations / bylaws.
