Lets look at maps and see what the numbers tell us. There are directions to the places we want to go, but how do I use the coordinates on the map.

I'll have a touring book with directions to a trail. ill also have the map that relates to the trip. We can use the directions to pinpoint the trail for a good visual.

Learn what the numbers along the map edges are and see how grid lines are oriented. Some maps have slope shading, and the aspect ratio is different from other printings. Learn about True north and Magnetic north. There will be a Ridge Tracing exercise at the end of the class .

Bring a note book and pen. This will be an indoor meet.
