Organizer: Zac Walters

Activity Type: Rock Climbing
Difficulty Rating: Intermediate

Itinerary:

Meet at the trailhead for the crag at 9:30am each day.

Saturday August 13: Lost Boys (easiest route is 5.9, lots of options in 5.10 range and up)

Sunday August 14: Youth Lagoon (a few 5.8's, most routes are in the 5.10-11 range)

Open to other ideas if anyone wants to propose alternate crags, just picked these because they are two of my favourites.

Part 2 of this trip will be in Banff, see that event for details. Feel free to partake in one or both!

Prerequisites / Skills Required:

  • Ideally confident lead belaying and climbing, minimum requirement is ability safely top rope belay.

  • Comfortable taking fat whips.

  • Ability to maintain a cool head after onsighting someone's project.

Required items to bring:

  • Rock climbing harness

  • Rock climbing shoes

  • Rock climbing helmet

  • Belay device (if you have one)

  • Lots of stoke

(Rental equipment available at Gravity Gear in Jasper town centre)

Rope, quickdraws, etc. will be provided by GMMC. If you prefer to bring your own, feel free to do so.

Accommodations & Carpooling:

As per club guidelines, participants are responsible for arranging their own accommodations and transportation.

My plan is to camp at Snaring/Overflow, or another FCFS campground. Unfortunately, all reservations are taken for this weekend. We can discuss plans further in a WhatsApp group chat closer to the trip.

Carpooling can also be discussed further in the WhatsApp group chat. I will be staying in Jasper after this weekend, and then travelling to Banff for part 2 of this trip, but carpooling could be arranged with others.

If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to text/Signal/WhatsApp Zac at 780-231-2006.

Please refer to the GMMC Policies regarding Animals, Carpooling, Accommodation, and Cancellation.
